Avera Sacred Heart Hospital
More than a century has passed since the light of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital began to shine on Yankton when the Benedictine Sisters began to provide care and compassion to the sick - first opening their doors in 1897. Today our light casts a healing glow over 120,000 residents in southeastern South Dakota and northeastern Nebraska and now illuminates a state-of-the-art center of care, ever expanding to meet the changing needs of this region. And yet...it is still the same simple light of healing that has always guided our mission ... to reach out to those who are hurting.
