Reporters and photographers wanting to cover stories about any of our divisions including interviews with medical personnel and patients, are asked to contact Avera Sacred Heart Public Relations Department in advance of the interview. Please call (605) 668-8326 to schedule on-site media visits or to request help in setting up interviews with medical center sources.

Reporters may call (605) 668-8326 during non-business hours and leave a message. In an emergency, they may contact the administrator on-call through the hospital’s switchboard at (605) 668-8000.

August 1, 2008 Yankton Police Participate in National Child Safety Event Annually, over 800,000 children are reported as missing - one in every 40 seconds. To help prevent this from happening to children in the Yankton region, the Yankton Police Department will be fingerprinting children, collecting DNA samples and making ID cards for any child (6 months and over) on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Therefore, sooner or later, those people will unexpectedly be struggling with the dilemma of what can I do to help my friend or loved one through the cancer experience.

July 15, 2008 Bierle Named New ASHH Board Chair, Three New Members Welcomed Mary Pat Bierle was named the new board chair for the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Board of Directors at its July meeting. Bierle holds the distinction of being the first female lay person to hold the position as board chair. She replaces Jim Means who served three years as chair and will remain on the board.

July 15, 2008 Avera Health Named 2008 Most Wired and Most Wireless For the tenth consecutive year, Avera Health has been named to the nation’s MOST WIRED and for the fifth year MOST WIRELESS, according to the results of the 2008 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released today in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. Avera Health is the only organization in the nation to be named to both lists since their inception.
